Elmhurst is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens in the city of New York. Elmhurst was one of the first European towns in Queens and was founded in 1652 under the name of Middleburg. When Queens became part of New York City, the Cord Meyer developers changed the neighborhood�s name to Elmhurst. Elmhurst is part of Queens Community Board 4 which also includes the neighborhoods of Corona, Roosevelt Avenue and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Anothony R Moreno is the current Board Chair with District Manager Richard Italiano. Today Elmhurst is considered one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in New York City.
The neighborhood is part of School District 24 with Madeline Chan as its Superintendent.
