Forest Hills is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens in New York City, New York.
The area that became Forest Hills was once known as Whitepot until 1906 when the Cord Meyer Development Company bought the land from three local farmers and renamed it. Then the founder of the Russel Sage Foundation, Margaret Olivia Slocum, bought the area from the Cord Meyer Development in 1909 and sought to build quality low-income housing for improved living conditions for the poor. Grosvenor Atterbury was commissioned to design Forest Hills Gardens and fashioned it after the garden communities of England.
You�ll find tree lined cobblestone streets in the midst of townhouses and Tudor style homes within Forest Hills.
