Harrison

In 1695, John Harrison was asked to ride in the area of Harrison for 24 hours by the Siwanoy chief Pathungo. Whatever land John Harrison was able to cover in the day, was sold to him. According to a town historian, Charles Dawson, the land that became Harrison was sold three times to three different settlers and John Harrison was the first to file claims with the provincial government of New York.
