Hewlett Harbor

Hewlett Harbor is a village in Nassau County with a population of 1,271 as of 2000 census. Hewlett Harbor is a mere thirty minutes outside of Manhattan consisting of 439 family homes which border the Seawane Golf and Country Club, the Macy Channel or Willow Pond. The village is named after prominent nineteenth-century biblical scholar John Hewlett, whose family farmed the land three hundred years ago. In 1914, the famous layer Joseph Auerbach bought most of the Hewlett land to build a summer residence and stumbled upon the remains of the Algonquin Indian chief during construction.
