Occupying little more than a square mile in southeastern Queens is Laurelton, a charming neighborhood with a strong community. From 1906 to 1908, Laurelton was a land development by the Laurelton Land Company. The Company was funded by a group of Brooklyn investors who hired landscape architect Carl Pilat to plan the area. A prominent feature of the neighborhood is its Tudor homes, with their signature heavy chimneys and decorative half-timbering. Tudor homes are also known as Medieval Revival homes.
