St. Albans
St. Albans is a middle-class neighborhood in southeaster Queens, New York. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 12.
The area that became St. Albans was predominantly farmland and forest from 1655 well into the 19th century. At the center of this farm community were four families: the Remsens, the Everitts, the Ludlums and Hendricksons. In 1892 an area part of the Francis Farm was developed for housing. Francis Lewis Boulevard was named after that prominent family. In 1899 a post office was built and named St. Albans after England�s first Christian martyr Saint Alban. Addisleigh Park in the western commune of St. Albans used to attract many famous jazz musicians including James Brown.
