Village of Rye
Formerly the village of Rye, the city of Rye received its charter as a city in 1942 the-most recent to be issued in New York State. The first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and one of the Founding Fathers, John Jay spent his childhood and final days in the city of Rye.
