Yonkers

Yonkers is the fourth most populous city in New York State and the most populous city in Westchester County. Some attractions in Yonkers include the Hudson River Museum, the Sherwood House, the Science Barge, Cross Country Shopping Center and the Yonkers Raceway.

In the late 1640s Dutch settler Adriaen Van der Donck built one of the first mills in the United States with a land grant from the Dutch East India Company at the junction of the Hudson and Nepperhan Rivers. Van der Donck was called Jonk Herr and his land became known as The Younckers which evolved to Yonkers.
